Alec Galambos is a composer, arranger, and conductor, and has been known to struggle with voice and piano (and, to a much greater degree, accordion and various percussion and brass instruments). He has written for full orchestra, string orchestra, SATB choir, chamber ensembles, string quartet, piano, solo voice, solo guitar, and electronics, and has enjoyed opportunities to direct vocal and music theater ensembles.

He has written, conducted, and produced music for film, TV, animation, interactive, and concert/solo recital projects, and has created, taught, performed, and recorded more than fifty vocal arrangements, ranging in scope from barbershop quartet to Emory University’s No Strings Attached to a 200+ singer a cappella army. His music has somehow ended up at a Film Festival in Croatia, at New York’s Merkin and Carnegie Halls, the Galapagos Art Space, and on a baseball field with Maestro Itzhak Perlman conducting.

He lives and works New York City, and can be found performing regularly with KHORIKOS and the Greenwich Village Chamber Singers as their Composer-in-Residence. He also offers private instruction and tutoring in aural skills, music theory, and beginning piano. He holds a B.A. from Emory University and an M.M. in Film Scoring and Music Composition from NYU’s Steinhardt School. He enjoys food, philosophy, and getting involved in new musical experiences that he may or may not be prepared for (like negotiating a duet with Tibetan throat singers).
