Ruth Alon was born 1984 in Israel. Ruth studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Universität der Künste Berlin; in 2020, graduated M.A cum laude in Composition from The Estonian Academy of Music. She studied with numerous leading composers including Zvi Avni and Elena Mendoza, and participated in master-classes and workshops with composers from around the world such as William Mival, Z. Randall Stroope, and Andrew Schultz.

In her work as a composer, Alon has developed a unique personal style. Her compositions and commissions have been performed in concerts and festivals all over the world in venues such as Judisches Museam der Stadt Wien, Concert Hall of Lviv Philharmonic Society, Tel-Aviv Museum of Art; and heard on Kol Hamusica, the national radio station for classical music in Israel.

She has reached the finals of several competitions and won 3rd place in the Alfred Schnittke International Composition Competition. In addition, she is a receiver of several grants and scholarships including the prestigious grants from Ministry of Culture and Sports, and the Yehoshua Rabinovich Tel Aviv Foundation for the Arts.

Alon is a member of the Israeli Composers’ League (branch of ISCM and ACL in Israel) and Israeli Women Composers Forum. In addition to composing, she has served as assistant conductor at Adi Choir and taught courses at several music schools including Jonathan Wohl Music School – Ono Academic College, Muzik – School of Creation and Production of Music, and Yoav Gera – School of Sound.
