Andrew Donaldson is a lyricist/composer, conductor, and enlivener of congregational song. He was co-editor of The Book of Praise for the Presbyterian Church in Canada, and coedited the harmony edition of The Book of Psalms. He has worked as music director in several Ontario churches, and in Geneva, Switzerland as music director, composer and Worship Consultant to the World Council of Churches, for whom he compiled and edited the songbook “Hosanna! Ecumenical Songs for Justice and Peace,” which contains many of his translations.

Donaldson has written orchestrations and choral arrangements and settings for a number of ensembles and church choirs, including the Toronto Chamber Choir, Hilariter, the Toronto Community Orchestra, and The Gents.

He founded and directed Hilariter, a cross-cultural and instrumental vocal ensemble, for which he wrote many songs and settings, and recorded two CDs: “The Whole Bright World Rejoices,” and “Companions in the Way.” His church choir recorded five CDs of global church music.
