Jean-Christophe Rosaz was born in the Alps of Swiss-French nationality and Italian-Argentinean origin, which invited him to travel and encouraged the meeting other cultures. Graduating from the Conservatory of Lyon in classical guitar and composition (counterpoint, harmony and fugue), he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Composition at the Conservatoire National de Lyon and then in film music at the Ecole Normale de Musique - Alfred Cortot in Paris.

His music has been performed all over the world: Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cuba, France, England, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA.

Recent premiers include Amersfoorts Kamerkoor et Brabants Kamerkoor dir. Rienk Bakker, Maitrise de la Cathédrale de Metz, Maitrise de la Cathédrale de Lyon, Opera De Limoges, Angers-Nantes Opera, Switzerland with Swiss Youth Choir conducted by Nicolas Fink, Grand Théâtre de Limoges / Les Grands Concerts Lyon / International Countertenors Festival La Havana / Festival des voix du prieuré art. dir. Bernard Têtu, and Concertgebow Amsterdam / St Martin in the Fields / International Festival of Thoronet/ invited composer to the Florilège Vocal de Tours. Festival de Montpellier/Radio-France.

Awards include 2023: Musica per Archi / Composers Competition Lviv Philharmonic Society - Ukraine / Special mention Amazonia for string orchestra, 2022: Composition 1st prize of the 2nd Tiziano Rossetti International Music Competition in Lugano, Switzerland, 2015-16: Honored Composer for the choice of works to be interpreted at the National Meeting of the International Singing and Choral Competition of the 44th Anthology Vocal de Tours (art. Dir. Loïc Pierre and François Bazola), 2014: commission from IFAC (Vocal Art French Institute), 2013: “Prayer for peace” chosen for the Congrès Pueri cantores 2014 Paris.

“The Lads of Monleon” was the winner of the 1st First Hispasong International Composers Contest (Spain). “Diligam te, Domine” was the winner of the 7th Concours Amadeus de composition chorale (Spain), and “Chiaroscuro” for double bass solo received the Grand Prize International Society of Bassists David Walter Composition Competition, New York.”
