Leonard Mark Lewis is a composer and pianist specializing in new music. A member of BMI, he is the recipient of awards from ASCAP (Morton Gould Award), BMI, Columbia University (Bearns Prize), Voices of Change (Russell Horn Composers Award), Frank Tichelli and MACRO.

In addition to his catalog of solo works, compositions by Lewis have been commissioned and performed by ensembles including the Charlotte Symphony, North/South Consonance, Truman State Orchestra, AURA (University of Houston), Symposium for New Band Music, New Music Camerata, NACUSA, Concordia Trio, Charlotte Civic Symphony, Hyperion Ensemble, and numerous wind ensembles. Lewis has received performances at the World Saxophone Congress in St. Andrews, Scotland, Germany, London, New York City, and Wrocław, Poland. His orchestral works have been performed by the American Composer’s Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, the Charlotte Civic Symphony, and Cy-Fair Orchestra.

Lewis maintains an active schedule with residencies, commissions, and performing across the US. His music is published by Dorn, Manhattan Beach, Southern, and Haggelstein. He is Professor of Composition/Theory at Winthrop University.
