In my interpretation of the text, I have tried to maintain its simple, direct tone, and its romantic, almost erotic quality. In order to emphasize the age of the text but at the same time its immortality, I have created a hybrid of ancient, Jewish atmosphere, using traditional modes and embellishments alongside modern jazz-influenced harmonies and rhythms.
