Jim Taylor is Professor of Music and Director of Fine Arts at LeTourneau University, a Christian polytechnic university in Longview, TX. His degrees in Music Composition, Studio Writing and Production, and Choral Conducting are from Florida Atlantic University, the University of Miami, and the University of Alabama, where he was Narramore Scholar for the School of Music. His analysis of the Shaw-Parker choral arrangements has been the subject of a dissertation and an article in the Choral Journal. From 2009-2017 he served as Director of Choral Activities at Kilgore College in Kilgore, TX.

Taylor is the 1995 founder of the Jacksonville (FL) Children’s Chorus. He studied under Helmuth Rilling at the Oregon Bach Festival in 1996 and has conducted the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in Ukraine on four occasions. He has conducted the first and second of his “Cambridge Songs” suites for choir and orchestra at Carnegie Hall and the fourth at L’eglise de la Madeleine in Paris in 2022. His choral compositions are published by Oxford University Press, Hinshaw, Roger Dean, Choristers Guild, and other publishers. More of his choral works can be seen at jtmusic.info.
