The choral music of Joy DeCoursey-Porter has been described as, “the sort of thing that can grab hold of you,” “haunting,” and “beautiful, reflective, vibrant, and well set.”
She began composing and arranging in college as needed for various groups within her school and church. She is relatively new to the professional composing world. Since 2011 her pieces have been performed and well received throughout the United States, in Japan, Germany and Canada. She has been recognized for her works on the ChoralNet Spotlight blogs, The Silver Platter Awards, and has placed in The American Prize.
In addition to choral music, she enjoys writing piano and instrumental pieces for her private students. Those works can be found at www.sheetmusicplus.org.
More recently she has teamed up with the self-publishing site MusicSpoke. Many of her pieces can be found there at www.musicpoke.com. She continues to build her oeuvre as she is able, while home schooling her two boys and spending time in the ministry of her church.
