ben-jisoo-kim

Ben Jisoo Kim grew up in South Korea, where he studied piano since the age of 5. Kim began to compose at Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA, where he realized his passion for creating music. He continued on to University of Calgary for his Master’s degree. He has recently relocated to Toronto.

With many influences including Traditional Korean music, Impressionists, and Anglican church music, Kim writes in an eclectic style that is hard to pin down. His other passion is musical theatre, which he was exposed to in college. His SATB choral arrangement of Korean folk songs, titled Three Korean Folk Songs, is published by earthsongs and has been performed by choirs in the US and Canada including the renowned LA Master Chorale.
