george-atwell

After spending over 20 years in the recording industry as writer/arranger, producer, and keyboard artist, working with Atlantic Records, Michael Jackson, Petra, Greg X. Volz, Walt Disney World, and many others, George Atwell has been busy composing and producing music for stage, film and television. He has just completed a major work for Chorus, Orchestra, Tenor and Soprano solo titled “Mass for the Future,” a transformative work that combines selected elements from ancient Latin Liturgy with references to science, technology, and the future.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in piano performance from the University of Central Florida and has studied piano and composition with Iris Engel, Jacques Abram, Burt Szabo, and Gary Wolf, as well as master classes with famed Polish pianist Mieczyslaw Horzowski. He received instruction in organ at Stetson University under professors Harvey Burgett, Susan Klotzbach, and Boyd Jones.

Atwell’s music has been performed literally around the world and his composition “Bread for a Hungry World” (a commission from Van Ness Press/Genevox Music Group) received a special composition award from ASCAP. He is cited in the 2008 edition of Who’s Who in America and lives in Orlando, Florida.
